Therapeutic Garden, Sandy Playground, Woodball Course, Dog Park, Amphitheatre and more–much to explore and do in the Sun Plaza Park!

Singapore is home to many beautiful outdoor parks and playgrounds. I had the opportunity of visiting Sun Plaza Park at Tampines and here is why I loved it!

Located in Tampines in the east, Sun Plaza Park is one of the most popular family-friendly parks in Singapore. The lush green park measuring 9 hectares lies on the Singapore PCN (Park Connector Network) connecting Bedok Reservoir and the Pasir Ris Park.  Sun Plaza Park is best known for its outdoor playground, therapeutic garden and family-friendly amenities making it a perfect spot to unwind and play.

I have rounded up the highlights of the park, the list of must-do things, and other useful tips, so you can plan your next visit to Sun Plaza Park with ease.

Walk at Therapeutic Garden

Things to Do at Sun Plaza Park

Therapeutic Garden and Sprawling Lawns

Sun Plaza Park has sprawling lawns with large grassy patches, tall trees and beautiful flowers. One can even find Singapore’s own cherry blossom tree – the trumpet tree, here.  Sun Plaza Park offers a unique opportunity to soak in nature and learn from it. Families can explore the biodiversity of the sprawling park and enjoy the sensorial experience of the Therapeutic Garden together. Learning about the trees and plants in the park, smelling the flowers and watching the birds and insects that gather are great family bonding activities, besides offering many photo worthy moments. Children and adults can also try out the bead maze activity in the Therapeutic Garden that encourages hand-eye co-ordination and mental focus.

Sandpit and Playground

Outdoor Playground with Slides, Sandpit and Volleyball Court

Children have many play elements to choose from in the Sun Plaza Park. In the centre of Sun Plaza Park, is a bright play structure with slides and kiddie rides for younger children and  a climbing pyramid for the older, adventurous kids. It also has a large sandpit  where children can set their imagination free by building sandcastles and more. Another play structure with slides is located a few metres away from the main play area. There is even a sandy beach volleyball court for families to enjoy beach volleyball away from the beach! The large expanse of the park with its green lawns and sandy patches provide plenty of space for children to freely run around.

Amphitheatre at Sun Plaza

Amphitheatre and Woodball Course

Sun Plaza Park is unique in the community spaces that it offers besides the outdoor playground. The park has an outdoor Amphitheatre with a stage and seating area, ideal for hosting celebrations, events and family gatherings. It is free for public use and does not require prior booking. The park also features a Woodball Course built to international standards with 12 fairways, for family or community sporting events. It is free to use; however, one can approach the park staff for logistical assistance.

Cycling Pathways and Stroller-friendly Pavements

Sun Plaza Park has flat terrain and smooth pathways and pavements that are ideal for jogging, cycling and inline-skating. Since the park is on the PCN, cyclists and runners can conveniently pass through the park to connect to parks on either side. The smooth, flat pathways make it easy for parents with young children to push strollers, as well as render the park wheelchair accessible. True to its name, an aerial view of the Sun Plaza Park reveals how all its paths converge in the centre to form the shape of the sun!

Dog Run and Wash

Besides the ample walking paths in the park, Sun Plaza Park has a dedicated 784sqm area for the furry friends called the Dog Run. Here, dogs can run around freely and there is also a Dog-Wash to get them clean before heading out of the park.

The Gym Pod @ Sun Plaza Park

The park has an indoor fitness studio for adults who might want to combine an indoor gym session with their nature walk. Gym pods have to be booked privately.
